White Flower Cake
This cake is super moist and airy and the strong vanilla flavour is well established throughout the whole cake. If you are looking for a simple vanilla cake this is the perfect match for you! I would say you can also call this a birthday cake as nobody can deny this flavour. This whips up super fast and with a couple of key ingredients, this cake is unbeatable!
Ingredients
- 1 2⁄3 cup all purpose flour 1 tsp baking powder
- 1⁄2 tsp baking soda
- 1 cup sugar
- 1 cup buttermilk
- 1⁄4 cup sour cream
- 3⁄4 cup unsalted butter
- 3 egg whites
- 2 tsp vanilla essence/almond extract Use american buttercream recipe
use almond extract instead of vanilla for a “white” cake
1 cup milk + 1tbsp vinegar instead of buttermilk-give it a good whisk
Cake
- Whisk the dry ingredients and set aside
- Combine the sour cream and buttercream
- In a stand mixer cream the butter and sugar
- Add one egg white at a time and vanilla extract until it slightly increases in volume
- In alternating batches, add milk or flour mixture to the stand mixer
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees F
- Pour the batter equally into to 8-inch greased pans and bake for 30-35 minutes
Assembly
- Pipe buttercream in between the two layers using a cake stand
- Pipe buttercream around the cake and on the surface, use offset spatula or bench scraper
- Use russian piping tips for the border of the cake and be creative with it!
